What do we mean by a complex problem?

Modern IT systems are networked - with each other as well as their components within the software. Hardware is becoming increasingly powerful, which is why the individual signal paths are also becoming more powerful. This, combined with ever-increasing computing power, creates an incredible amount of data, many of which must be processed in real time. If it is then also important that systems must not fail, because otherwise human lives would be in danger, then we are talking about complex systems.
